Course Trip Friday the 23rd October October 21, 2009
Posted by admin in : Uncategorized , comments closedA must see experience for ALL First and Second Years.
First port of call will be SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution (cost £4 with a student card)
A major exhibition staged at London’s Somerset House in Autumn 2009, SHOWstudio: Fashion Revolution is a retrospective of nine years of online innovation, invention and creation. Based around the themes of ‘Process’, ‘Performance’ and ‘Participation’, the exhibition showcases over twenty projects from SHOWstudio’s archives alongside unique new films, artworks and live fashion shoots and events specifically devised for this groundbreaking exhibition.
Second port of call will be Mutate Britian “One foot in the Grove” (cost £1)
A 15000 square foot open air exhibition of Street Art, giant Sculpture and Installations, fully licensed for 1250 people, underneath the West Way Road Bridge next to Portobello Road, Ladbroke Grove, London.
Following the success of their debut show ‘Behind the Shutters’ at the infamous Cordy House, the Mutate Britain team are pleased to announce One Foot in the Grove, an exhibition of painting and sculpture located in the heart of West London on the Portobello Road.
Since artists such as Futura 2000 (then touring with The Clash) and Mode 2 first painted the huge walls supporting the iconic West Way in the early 80s, they have been cited as a birthplace of British graffiti/street art culture. Almost 30 years later Street Art is a global artistic movement, rich with talent, diverse aesthetic styles and momentum sustained by passion. Now over 50 of its old school pioneers, infamous names and future masters are back to build a show that celebrates the depth and heritage of the movement. Expect surprise announcements to add to the mix of works by Mode 2, Matt Small, Dr. D, Part2ism, Best Ever and too many more to mention here.

We will leave at 08.30 from the University Bus Stop

Interactive Swedish Piano Stairs October 15, 2009
Posted by admin in : Interactive, viral , comments closedI love this idea which has just appeared on youtube. Funnily enough I read an interview with guitarist Les Paul who died recently about when he first started making guitars, he was interested in the sound properties of wood. He took the wooden treads off the stairs at home and planed them down to different thicknesses so that when he ran up the stairs they sounded like a marimba.
