Harry Bird from Comix will be coming in to talk bout his work as a VJ and this involvement on the recent Kisy Sell Out Tour. The talk will take place in Lecture Theatre 2 at 1.30 and ALL second year should attend plus any interested First and Third Years.

Two of last years BA(Hons) students Harry Bird and Sam Hodgkiss have just completed a tour of the country as VJ’s with Radio 1 DJ Kissy. They developed some interesting ideas into projecting and 3D mapping during last Years Extended Major Project before making a number of festival appearances over the summer which led to them being asked to take part in the Kissy Sell Out tour.

From Here To There March 10, 2009

This is my first entry for two months, very remiss of me. For all of this time I have been working as curator on the exhibition From Here to There which has just finished at the Gallery in The Arts Institute. This project has taken up all of my time since Christmas.

The exhibition represented 50 years of photography at the Arts Institute and featured the work of 26 ex-students who are all well known phtographers, These included top 1960’s photographer Philip Townsend who has a fantastic archive site and photographed everyone from the Beatles and the Rolling Stones to Winston Churchill and Twiggy, Turner prize winner Wolfgang Tillmans and top fashion photographer Nick Knight. On Friday 6th March 18 of the photographers attended a special drinks reception at the Arts Institute with 350 invited guests.

As well a curating the exhibition I also designed the accompanying publication and website. This is probably the largest design job I have done for 20 year so it was nice to catch up with current design and printing techniques. It is hoped the exhibition may now tour other galleries Nationally and even Internationally.
